The sun was not
shining nor was the sky clear or blue, but St. James was ready to
hold their annual parish festival anyway despite the steady drizzled
that kept coming down on this one day that festival organizers
count on to raise funds for their southside parish.
Luckily,
St. James has the facilities to take any activity indoor and thats just
what they did. Instead of using the outside quadrangle that is
typically used year after year, parish volunteers abandoned their
outdoor stands and move into one of two large buildings on the parish
grounds.
Both Father Plutarco Belanggoy and Father Archie Tacay were present and mingled with their parishioners.
The
annual event saw so many people that both front and rear parking lots
were filled causing many others to park for blocks around St. James
Church.
Many of the participants, vendors and volunteers were
teenagers with an equal amount of small children. Adults were the
majority and most were in the church's school gym listening to Los
Trevors.
So
the weather did nothing to quelch the enthusiasm or lessen the success
of this year's parish festival. Hopefully, it also brought
much needed revenue.
